ruff start, happy ending Aug 03, 2009
after reading all the mixed reviews i reluctantly booked a night at the preston. i booked through the hotel website. later i informed them i found a lower price (for them) posted on another website and they changed my rate to the lower price. i was pretty pleased with that.
walked in the front door and was pleasantly greeted by staff. the lobby was "retro" decorated but fine. they didnt have my king room ready for early check in as i requested. they offered a double room with the option to change later if we wanted. the double was fine because we ended up bringing our 8 year old with us. 5 minutes to check in and we were off to our room. the elevator was horrible and it lets you onto a floor (the sixth) thats dimly lit. the place can really put you in a sad mood. my girl must've been thinking the same thing, because when we got to our room she asked, "why you pick this hotel? its not the kind of place we usually stay?" before i could respond i was saved by the bell when i opened the door to a large, clean and sunny room. i was relieved when i saw the smile on her face. i agree with other posters that the beds are amazing. they also have a 'pillow menu". this is where you can choose the pillow you're most comfortable with (hypo-allergenic, firm, super soft, large body pillow, etc) and the staff will bring it to you. i dont drink coffee but apparently the coffee maker in the bathroom having starbucks was a big deal. oh and our 8 year old loved the goldfish. we asked if could buy it from them. we politely declined when they promptly quoted the handsome price of $10. get past the inital shock of the elevator and hallway, its a treat to get to your room. we left and returned to the hotel a few times. once we knew what to expect you "almost" dont notice how bad they (elevator and hallways) are. i said all that too say we would stay here again. NOTE: this is an older review. I heard they've since completed all the upgrades. |

The concept of Customer Service is non-existent at Hotel Preston!

Enjoy the romance Aug 09, 2008
The Hotel Preston is a joy. Far and away one my favorite boutique hotels to stay in anywhere. The Hotel Preston exudes class and care the moment you step in the lobby... actually, the feeling starts as you drive up, under a classic and smooth carp...read entire review at TravelPost.com

The Hotel Preston: a Music City Marvel Feb 21, 2006
My personal stay at The Hotel Preston was hands down one of the most enjoyable trips I'd ever taken. Though the location (as far as aesthetics go) left the new hotel with something to be desired. Preston is located directly off of the Briley Parkw...read entire review at TravelPost.com
