The Mayan Puuc Trail is a small geographic area southwest of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico by about 50 miles. However Ticul offers affordable hotels, several more than adequate restaurants, good locations for purchasing the essential of life and an opportunity to visit a nice town. There is a huipil weaving industry here, The embroidery is of very good quality. On my last visit there was a utilitarian pottery industry. I can recommend Hotel, Plaza, Hotel Sierra Sosa, Hotel San Miguel, Hotel Bougambillas and Hotel - Motel Cerro Inn. Hotel Plaza is located on the town plaza at Calle 23, Number 202. They do accept most credit cards, but want to charge an additional fee for accepting payment with a card. I have been given quoted an American tourist price on several occasions. There are some rooms with air conditioning. The non-tourist price is between $20.00 and $30.00 per night depending on the length of your stay. The room with fans are just $5.00 less per night. The rooms are average in size and very clean. This hotel can be noisy because it is on the plaza. I would recommend ear plugs and or an interior room.

I would try to eat at Restaurant Los Almendros as many times as possible. This place specializes in Yucatecan dishes. It is located at Calle 23, number 207.
