Hotel Peten

I stayed here on my first trip to Tikal. This is a good hotel with an attractive Caribbean-style building and interior patio. There is a great roof top patio. rooms 33 and 34 on the top floor have views of Lake Petén Itza. The rooms are average in size with a fan, TV and private bathroom. I paid around $26.00 per night for a 5 night stay. I asked for a single room but got a double. They also offer triple rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Pedro Castellanos was the manager and was very helpful and knowledgeable of the Flores and some of the remote ruins in the Petén. He provide some great advise and offer recommendation of two guides. Hotel Petén is located on Calle 30 de Junio just around the corner from Hotel Yum Kaz.
