Hotel Nordsee Nes Reviews
Nice central hotel Jan 17, 2010
Golden Tulip Hotel Nordsee - a member a the Westcord Hotels Group - is strategically situated on the north edge of the village Nes, "capital" of the Dutch Waddenzee (indeed part of the North sea) island Ameland. This means the hotel can only be reached by ferry from the mainland village of Holwerd, so that the holidays get a bonus demension at the moment you jump aboard the boat.
A shuttle service from the hotel takes you from the port of Nes through the village to the hotel complex.
The hotel has a superb location. Neighbouring the local nature museum (watch the big whale) and nature park De Vleijen (beautiful landscape with small lakes) the North sea beach is less than a kilometer away.
The hotel offers a bike rental with a large choice. In ameland you have to have a bike to explore the island, so this is very conveniant.
Further the hotel has a big restaurant with buffet breakfast and dinner of good quality. There's an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a relaxing lounge and bar.
The rooms are appartments alike. Our room was a three room appartment in a side wing of the complex. The main room had a kitchen, seats and sofa and a cupboeard (containg the tele) with a surprise. The cupboard actually was a sort of movable wall with behind it the main bed room!
The side wall of this bedroom also contained a cupboard. This cupboard could also be used from the other bed room featuring a bunk bed. So, in case of emergency you could reach the other bed room through the closet!
We had a nice view on the park De Vleijen from our balcony. Cycle paths start right under it, which is a not refusable request to jump on your bicycle and have a great day riding the cycle paths crossing the entire island.
The hotel probably has a German name for the fact that most of its guests are coming from Germany.
Conclusion is that the hotel is a good alternative for a week or so on a Dutch island. Ameland is beautiful, if Dutch weather cooperates...
