Hotel Nidwaldnerhof

From the reservation by e-mail we expected a friendly hotel. We weren´t disappointed. They sent us some pictures with the confirmation, which were pretty much the same as we´d seen on their website. The reception at the hotel was friendly and inviting. The building itself, and its rooms, are outdated. Some furnishing would do nicely here. Allthough everything is available, including kitchenette, towels, soap, television and radio, it´s still very much outdated and very small for the three of us. The halls are dark and the stairway gives a creepy feeling, but don´t let that feeling get a hold of you. If you don´t like the stairway, you can take the elevator. As soon as I stepped on the balcony I remembered why we´d chosen this hotel: the view on Lake Lucerne.

Service was very good. Personal and friendly but professional. The quality of the food was outstanding. But then again, the food in the Swiss has never disappointed me. In the dining room, we had a wonderful dinner with view on the lake. Because of the thunderstorm and the lightning striking the lake, the view was breathtaking. Breakfast was good and again, the service was perfect.

The location of the hotel is convenient near the A2, the route South.

The hotel is near the cable tramway up the mountain, the Klewenalp. If you like hiking, this is a wonderful spot!
