Hotel Monaco Portland (Oregon) Reviews
Great Downtown Vibe Sep 27, 2009
We did a Priceline bid for our King sized Room for one night at the Hotel Monaco and got the room for $75. We decided to stay for a second night and they gave us a discount at $96. The regular price was $259 per night. We were willing to stay at any place in Downtown Portland that Priceline would give us for the $75 a night price for a 4 star hotel and we got the Hotel Monaco. Score!
The Hotel Monaco is an old style downtown hotel with a funky retro design. The front desk area has purple walls, The lobby has red walls with ornate paneling and a fireplace with a 1950's style patterned carpet on the floor. The rooms have Yellow and white striped wallpaper with a patterned carpet. The style is definately not traditional and you have to enjoy that style to enjoy the hotel. The hotel allows dogs and is very friendly to people with dogs. There was a list of the names of all the dogs staying in the hotel on a chalkboard in the lobby. The quality of service and amenities available are, of course, 4 star. The staff was helpful and courteous. (They gave us a reasonable price on our second night after all) Our room was fairly small for what you would expect to pay $259 per night but it is a typical size hotel room. The bathroom was nice and clean and had nice fixtures but nothing all too special. There is a handy desk where you can sit and use a laptop wtih the free Wifi (to get free Wifi you need to apply for a free Kimpton's Hotel chain membership) It was a nice room to stay in. Location is great. You are in walking distance to any place downtown and if you want to take the light rail that is right there too. One drawback was the high price of parking at the hotel. They want to charge you $30 per night. We found this out beforehand and found a great place to park within a block of the hotel for less than half the price. There are a couple others garages nearby too with similar prices. So avoid their parking rates if you can. Overall, it was a great place to stay, good location, good staff and nice feel. I would stay there again if Priceline gave it to us for $75 again. |

Another large city that I drove right through without stopping. The kitten traveled well, and instead of keeping her in the box, she sat in the back window chasing raindrops, and sometimes she would sit on my shoulder or behind my neck. One thi…… Portland Oregon |
