tiny but tidy hotel in a run-down area May 27, 2009
I no longer remember how we found this hotel, but what was memorable was the walk there from Avignon Centreville with our suitcases. It was long - some 45 minutes following major streets. However, we did not want to take a cab and there was no bus service at night. Some of the walk was through some questionable and dark territory and we had our doubts about our choice at some point.
However, the hotel was nice for the price. Very quiet location and very clean. Strong A/C and a small balcony with a view over the courtyard. Everything seemed very clean and the bed was comfy. WiFi was given to us for free and 24h access was not a problem. Despite being quite a walk from city centre, the location is not bad per se. There's a major shopping centre some 10 minutes away on foot with a number of restaurants, there's a pizzeria that's open almost non-stop and a pattiserie that opens early, both just around the corner. We also ended up renting a car from ucar which was a nice 5 minute walk from the hotel. Finally, it's right on the bus route to downtown and though the bus comes pretty rarely, it was on time and just a euro to get back to the train station when we returned the car. Overall, given it was 60 euros per night for a double room, I think it's reasonable if not necessarily an amazing deal. Part of the Europe 2005 - 2006 travel blog |
