Hotel Matelote, Antwerpen Reviews

May 19, 2007
Small design hotel in Antwerpen in late May 2007. This newly opened hotel is very centrally located with a two minute walk to the Grote Markt. The 10 individually modern designed rooms score high on the design scale, clean lines in soft, muted white, grey and chocolate colours makes for relaxing rooms.

The hotel's public areas are spacious but still keeping touches of the 16 century building with minimalist styled new furniture. The lounge room has a wood fire.

Our chic second floor room (medium priced at 145 euroes/night) faced the street which meant it suffered from some noise at night and was a little too warm and stuffy. The airco supplied didn't seem to cool it sufficiently. All rooms are fitted with a centrally controlled sound system giving access to nice mixed music (options of relaxed jazz, radio and lounge music).
