A stay in room 106 offers a taste of history. Here, in December 1877, the Russian composer Petr Il'lc Tchaikovsky, wrote the first three movements of Symphony no. 4, originally entitled DO LEONI. Some other famous guests of the hotel include Gabriele D'Annunzio, whostayed here in 1887 and attended the unveiling of the monument in front of the Hotel, built in honour of King Vittorio Emanuele II, and the writers Jorge Luis Borges and Iosif Brodskij, recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature.
