Overlooking historic Aci Trezza on Sicily Oct 08, 2010
Hotel Lachea Aci Trezza occupies an overlooking position in the Sicilian town of Aci Trezza near the base of the famous Mount Etna volcano. The hotel boasts a swimming pool with diving board, breakfast buffet, and an extensive bar. There are 24 rooms in the main building with an additional 12 rooms across the adjacent courtyard. This hotel is located 150 yards from the lava rock beach and seaside rooms with a balcony overlooking the islets with shrines to the Catholic faith.

Pluses for us:

+ Swimming pool with sunbathing

+ Breakfast buffet included is extensive

+ Wine and spirits bar with a wide selection

+ Friendly, open and giving staff

+ Some staff have good English skills

+ Great seaside views from balcony

+ Free internet access computer in the lobby

+ Free parking

+ Small refridgerator in room

+ Balcony with a view of the sea and islands

+ Away from noisy downtown area

+ Quick 5 minute walk to town center restaurants and shopping

+ Larger meeting rooms available

+ Beds were adequately comfortable

+ Good room rates at

+ Good location for views and access to Aci Trezza and Aci Costello

+ 4-5 TV channels in English

+ "Lachea" Hotel Restaurant (did not eat at the hotel restaurant but tried the Lachea Pizza and Seafood Restaurant in the town center which had good food and drinks)

Minor minuses for us:

- No artwork on the room walls

- Older tiled bathrooms with a tiny shower

- Some mold in the groutwork of the shower

- No mini-bar in room

- Need key for safe deposit box

- The hallways and rooms are all tiled which can make echo noises

- No "do not disturb signs" and housekeeping arrives around 0900L which can be a bit early

- Aci Trezza and Aci Costello are the only towns within walking distance

- Car horns are overused in Sicily, and the area around this hotel requires car horn usage often with hilly blind curves and a 1-way arch bridge nearby without traffic lights

Hotel Lachea Aci Trezza was a good place to stay if you want to stay on the East Coast of Sicily. It is a small fishing village with a harbor, but it also boasts very fresh seafood and ship repair/ship building--many of the multi-colored boats in this part of Italy are very famous for their colorful displays.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lachea Aci Trezza and can recommend this hotel for other guests who want to be near but not "on top of" the noise of Catania or Aci Castello bar districts. It is near the freeway and Mount Etna volcano but only within walking distance of the towns of Aci Trezza and Aci Castello.

A good place to stay in Sicily at a reasonable rate with a family atmosphere!
Lachea Hotel is family-run in Aci …

Been to a lot of these hotels lately where things work and everything is fine but I just need the "female" love for details, in order to also make it cozy.

We agree with you Christian--the rooms need some artwork and perhaps some floor coverings to make them more cozy. But, the room/beds were pretty comfortable for the price and they had a nice view.
