Great ibis experience Dec 11, 2014
Taking a morning flight from Heathrow Airport it seemed imperative to stay a night close by to avoid long distance travel to the airport in the morning.

After conducting a little search for an inexpensive, but close-by airport hotel with convenient airport connection, we decided to book a night stay at ibis London Heathrow Airport hotel.

For barely €50 per night for a double room, we were now staying at the airport hotel easily connected to the airport and not paying an enormous charge.

The hotel has its own airport shuttle service, and at the same time it is only 2-minute walk away from a bus stop serving free local bus running to Heathrow Central Bus Station.

When we arrived to the hotel late afternoon, the hotel seemed very peaceful with no queue to check in. It was fortunate since we did not have to wait to be served and were up in our room in just few minutes.

The room was very compact but nicely planned out with a double bed, a desk, a TV, coffee/tea brewing facilities and a wardrobe big enough to store some clothes. The décor was quite simple and modern, and the room was immaculately clean.

The small private bathroom was equipped to the expected standard and one could also find there toiletry essentials.

Unfortunately, the area in close vicinity to the hotel does not present many opportunities for dining out. Therefore, we had not much option but resign to dining in the hotel restaurant, Fogg’s restaurant, located in the big lobby next to check-in desk.

We were very much surprised by the choice of food on the menu, and the reasonable pricing of the dishes. Most of the main course dishes were available for just under €17.

We decided to skip ordering starters and went straight for the main courses – Thai Stuffed Banana Leaf and Thomas Jefferson’s Favourite followed by a bottle of water. Before our dishes were served we were served some warm bread rolls with butter as an appetiser.

It wasn’t too long before our meal arrived. Thai Stuffed Banana Leaf looked very intriguing as it was served enclosed. Once the banana leaf wrapping was opened, you could smell the curry flavours. Thomas Jefferson’s Favourite, pasta with chicken and chorizo sauce, looked equally appetising. The presentation of the dishes, the taste, the quality and the serving portion were way more than satisfactory. Each of the dishes cost under €17.

Having paid very little for our accommodation, it was not obvious that breakfast would not have been included. Luckily, the restaurant offers 2 breakfast options – a full breakfast for €15.50 or a smaller breakfast for €10. Even a smaller breakfast provides enough choice to satisfy your hunger.

Even with a very low price paid we had free access to hotel Wi-Fi which caused us no issues.

In overall, I must admit that I was very content with the hotel, its amenities and service they provided. Provided they keep their competitive prices, I will be returning there if I need airport accommodation.

Convenient at a good price May 19, 2012
Ibis London Heathrow Airport Hotel is located 1 km from Heathrow T1, T2 and T3. It takes 15 minutes on the local bus.

I arrived at 10 am, but was able to check in right away. The hotel didn´t seem very busy. The reception staff was polite, but nothing more. I didn´t feel particularly welcome.

The room was exactly like other rooms I have stayed in at different Ibis hotels. The thing with the Ibis chain is that you always know what you get. The room was not very big, but convenient enough and the double bed was comfortable. There was a small desk and a flat screen TV with plenty of channels to choose from. The room was also equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, which was nice. I only wish that there had been AC in the room since the window only opened a couple of inches. The air in the room was a bit stuffy.

The bathroom was small, clean, but a bit worn down. The shower curtain had several tears in it and the wallboard behind the washbasin was rotten.

I didn´t have breakfast there, but the restaurant looked nice. The dinner menu looked nice too. There was a bar in the reception area, but it had no atmosphere. Internet access cost extra. If you don´t bring your own laptop, you can use the guest PCs in the lobby. Access cost £1 or €2 pr 20 minutes.

I would probably stay at the Ibis London Heathrow Airport Hotel again since the hotel was cheap and access is convenient.

How to get there:

Hoppa bus H6 (T1, T2, T3) and H56 (T4, T5). They run every 20 minutes from 5:30 am – 11 pm and cost 4 GBP each way. From Heathrow central you can also take the free local bus service no 105, 111 and 140. They run 24/7. The frequency depends on the time of the day. During the day it runs every 10 minutes and during the night every 30 minutes. Get off at the stop called Harlington Corner.

Ian, last time at Heathrow I stayed at the Radisson Edwardian. It is close to the Ibis and much better. At the Ibis I paid £45 and at the Radisson £56. It is no doubt worth paying the £11 extra.

Handy to know which of these hotels are good, in case of planned stopover or delay, as there are so many around Heathrow

I had a hour stopover at Gatwick and was desperate for a quite place to stay so splashed out 50 pounds for a room. At the airport arrivals go outside to the hotel pickup curb and use the yellow free phone to call the dispatcher. The van took about 15 minutes to come. The hotel check in was a bit of a pain with them requesting addresses etc etc. The room was quite and also rather small but very clean. I would recommend it again. The bathroom is the cruiseliner/easycruise kind so does flood everywhere. Don't leave anything on the floor. There was internet in the lobby which was very expensive 1 pound for about 5 minutes.
