Hotel Groveland Reviews
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A welcome surprise during a trip to Yosemite National Park Jun 01, 2008
A travel companion and I had the good fortune of finding the restaurant at the Hotel Groveland. Peggy Mosley and her chef, Greg Lute were beyond my wildest dream for a camping trip!
Reservations had been made at a campground just outside of Groveland. I had expected that the best food around would be from MY kitchen. We arrived late afternoon Saturday, May 17. Driving a 40 foot RV up Route 120 was no treat. We vertured into Groveland tired and hungry. We were directed to the hotel since everyone else had long waiting lines. The staff at the Groveland greeted us and escorted us to a lovely patio table. Evening cocktails were fabulous. Then came dinner. Truthfully, The Hotel Groveland became our haunt for 6 nights of the 8 we were in the area. Salad was fresh and creative with seasonal vegetables-roasted asparagus with baby greens, fresh cheese and vinaigrette dressing to roasted fiddleheads with baby greens. (I had forgotten how wonderful fiddleheads are!) The main entrees were equally delicious. Each meal was freshly prepared and appropriately cooked and presented. Portions were very large. We decided that paying the half plate fee was worth the charge vs. coming home 20 pounds overweight. The salmon was perfectly prepared and wonderful quality. The lamb was not disappointing. The rib-eye steak was tender, rich, and flavorful. The daily pasta was delicious as well. The menu offered a variety of foods that would keep vegetarian and meat eaters happy. The dessert list was excellent as well. Save room for this treat! Creme Brule with strawberries, fresh apple tart, chocolate lava cake, and homemade ice cream. All mouth watering. They even make good espresso! The dinner tab is a bit breath taking but worth every cent. Many thanks to Peggy, Greg, and all the folks at Hotel Groveland. Thank you for your outstanding meals and service. |
