Hotel Green Mysore Reviews
Palace converted into an eco hotel Nov 04, 2012
The reception of this hotel is housed in a palace - The Palace of the Princesses.
There is also a small shop, a library, bakery and restaurant. On the first floor are the suites of the Princesses - the ambiance as existed in the ancient times perfectly preserved. There is a large traditional diner, with a huge table with ancient candlesticks, mats and a traditional chandelier on top.
The suites of the princesses are very tempting, with pretty beds and royal pink Shamianas (a cloth canopy) over them. A little writing desk next to an imposing sculpture adorned the corner of the room.
The little library is remarkable. I spent three hours on a rocking chair reading 'Wings of Fire' By Abdul Kalam by the majestic window.
The rooms are constructed separately, a little away from the Palace complex.
The hotel campus is beautiful, very calm and green; invokes spirituality. There is a long central raised deck with benches and chair and tables. The eating area offers open and semi open seating arrangement.
You could easily spot a tree with an inviting foliage to sit beneath and read or chase the cats.
However, when we entered the room, I was initially disappointed on finding no TV or A/C in spite of having to pay a substantial amount of tariff. But then we learnt that it was deliberately arranged that way. Everything runs on solar panels. The hotel campus is a 100% eco-friendly ground.
They had even employed an efficient water harvesting system.
It was great to realize that by staying at this hotel, you're actually making your little contribution to Mother Earth. :)
