Hotel Granados 83 Barcelona Reviews
A modern hotel needs caution Sep 08, 2009
Starting from location of this hotel, Granados 83 is very close to Passiege de Gracia, which is 5th avenue of Barcelona. Although big shops and all subway stations are not "on-site", two or three blocks away you can find them easily. From my experience, the hotel looks like an inn first with its small entrance, but when you entered, it is not bad. Especially the elevator is quite modern. Hotel front can speak English quite good with a bit of cute Spanish accent, and he gets almost anything you want from internet cables to a glass of water.
There is a bar in the basement level, which I did not try because of my late-night schedule all during my visit to Barcelona. When you enter the room, the bed seems to be small and well equipped, but then you will find that TV is just next to your eyes-very close to your bed. Sometimes it is disturbing to have that, and the TV was not hanged in the right position. Until you put a card key on, you will be in complete darkness because some rooms don't have windows to outside, and you have to find out where is the card reader. It is not so much of fun especially when you came back late at night and just finished shower.
Bathtub looks very good, cannot complain, but it has no curtain. I believe that was because it was a single room, but then what if your friends just stop by for an hour to join you and you need to take a shower in the meanwhile?
The entire bathtub is lined up with heavy glass instead of curtain, so you might want to be careful with it. Internet connection needs another good cable, which I asked to the front, and the problem is that it is not easy to find the jack anyways and doesn't fit with what they installed. But once you ask them, you will get instant service, don't worry.
And business center. You will see a one single computer in the basement level, and sometimes people are there even at 2 am. It is connected to a printer so that you can print them out. However, there is no chair so you have to stand up and do your own business there. One more important thing. The keyboard is spanish or calatan to say the least. So if you want to type out @ or whatever sign, you might have to ask to the nice front people how you can figuere it out, but obviously annoying or frustrating when you can't just type out @.
Overall, if you want to be safe in Barcelona and you want to speak English when something happend, this hotel is pretty OK especialy when you spend most of the time outside of the hotel. But if you want to have true relaxation, nice city view, absolutely good food, and no problem at all in one single hotel with reasonable price while you are travelling the great city of Barcelona, this is not the best place you choose. I chose it because of the above reason (Language,Location and Safety),and I really liked the front as well as their limo service to El Prat airport. Also I have never experienced noisy sounds or violence, very silent. Close to the famous cafe Mauri in Rosello, you may want to be in this hotel if you have company to meet in the morning.
