GTM Hotel Tbilisi Mar 29, 2013
We did not book any hotel in Georgia on the way back there from Armenia as we roughly know where we want to stay in Tbilisi city (we have been checking other hotel room while we were there last time). We rent a taxi from in front of our hotel in Lake Sevan Armenia to go sightseeing around outer Armenia and then go back to Tbilisi. It cost around usd 100 for a day which we though very reasonable and it included the car, driver and petrol – and probably parking ticket if any.

The taxi drop us right in front of the hotel door and I go inside to check with the reception if they have room available (since I am a bit fussy with a hotel room). The receptionist very friendly and speaks English well and we were in luck as they still have one room available and it was in the basement area. After we see the room, which is on the small side with window facing the pedestrian street – but we can see the Metekhi church tower as well, we settle there since we only plan to stay in Tbilisi for one night before moving to another city and do not want hassle to find other hotel and we were tired as we just arrived from Armenia and it has been a long day – we have been out from 9.30 am and arrived in the hotel around 6pm.

Unfortunately when we have our luggage in the room, it seems the room getting very small and very crammed and not much place to put things or to move around. The room has one double bed which is quite small in size, desk and chair, air condition, refrigerator, flat screen television, and modern bathroom with a towel heater as well – which we have not seen in other hotel in Armenia or Georgia.

The room cost usd 50 per night for two people including buffet breakfast.

Breakfast was quite decent, a lot of bread, cold meat, cheese, boil eggs, pate, sausages, fried eggs, and some kind of local fried rice, cereal and juices. The coffee milk was good though.

Not long after breakfast, and after exploring the big church in front of the hotel, we check out and handed the key to the reception (since we had paid the room in full the night before) – the receptionist asked if we want to extend our stay as they have larger room on the second floor. But we decided to moved and explore other cities in Georgia.

The hotel located right in front of Metekhi church, on the curve small climbing alley way, however car can drive by, and within walking distant to the square and bridge which has plenty of restaurants, cafe and other interesting sights – very good and centrally located in Tbilisi. Not far from the hotel is a local wines shop and we can try the wines before we buy it. However the price is higher than the price at the shop in the square.
