Hotel Fofo Bani Reviews
Oct 01, 2009
Hotel Fofo (Fofo means hi, welcome, thanks and cheers in Fulfulde) is as basic as they come. No electricity, no running water, just a small room with a bed and a mosquito net.
It was boiling hot inside the room, so we slept outside and retreated to our room by morning when it was a bit cooler. If you want to take a shower or do laundry, you will have to ask for someone to bring water. But don't waste it, water is very scarce here!
There are also some covered areas in the courtyard that are good to sit (or take a nap, as displayed by my boyfriend in the picture) during the hottest time of the day.
The location is excellent, by the main road and right in front of the Great Mosque.
There's one other place to stay in Bani. I don't remember the name but you will see the sign. It's owned by the younger brother of the owner of Hotel Fofo. We went to drink tea and play cards there one night. It's a bit more comfortable, as it has solar-powered ventilators in the rooms. But the location is less good, it's not by the main road so may be quite difficult to find at night, in Bani's dark, labyrinthine streets.
