Hotel Florence Inn New Delhi Reviews
Good hotel, bad service Aug 12, 2011
We arrived in New Delhi after a long night in a sleeping train on a very rainy morning, coming all the way from Varanasi. We were picked up and brought to the hotel. We booked a room with a twin bed, we had to wait for a while in the lobby and then we could go to our room. It turned out to be a double bed instead. The people at the counter was annoyed because we told him we did book a twin bed room. So we had to wait a little more. It was very early in the morning and the breakfast area was not even open yet.
I must say, the room was alright and the bed and bathroom were excellent! One thing there was water in the room on the floor, coming from outside, monsoon they call that I think. But furthermore the hotel looked and was very clean, too.
We wanted to explore the city, but the hotel owner told us that it is hard to get around Delhi and that we needed to take the taxi service of the hotel. We were tired and just thought ah well, why not?! What a scam! For every minute or kilometer we would arrive later we had to pay an X amount of money. Thank God the driver was such a sweet man. He just knew a few words of English and he told about his situation. We gave him a very big tip, compared to his monthly income! Before that tour we wanted to go on the internet, we could buy a code at the reception. We got I think one hour. But half of the time it did not work and all, it took us a lot of effort with that bad man! But in the end he said that we would get the rest of the time another time. The next day we had to wait at the end of the day for getting to the airport, then we asked for the internet minutes we lost the day before. Thanks for the bad cooperation, but he did not want to give it right away.
The location of the hotel is perfect. It is in Karol Bagh neighbourhood, close to a buzzing shopping street. The metro station into the city centre is only one minute walking form the hotel. So nothing to complain about that.
The restaurant looked good. But it took forever before we got our food and there was no staff walking around, so we could not even order something to drink! Quite bad for such a hotel.
So if you would ask me if I would stay here again. I would answer no, only because of the bad, bad service! Especially that one guy at the reception with the black mustache!
So in fact the value is not worth staying here, because it is quite an expensive hotel I think compared to the service of the staff. If only the staff was better, the place would have had a "Highly recommended" rate instead of a "Not recommended" rate.

Clean, Professional Hotel in Karol Bagh Neighborhood Jun 22, 2008
If you want to be near the Metro Station, Florence Inn is a great spot to stay. We didn't take the Metro but still enjoyed staying here. In fact, we ended up coming back on our second stint in Delhi because we enjoyed it so much. The front desk staff is very friendly, they arranged 2 separate airport pick ups for us and delivered both times. Also, they upgraded us to a nicer room for our second visit. The rooms were clean, roomy and well taken care of. We even enjoyed the food they had. The restaurant is small but tasty, as is their room service. Although it is a little expensive for some, I think Delhi is a pretty expensive city compared to the rest of India. So, if it is in your budget we'd definitely recommend it.
We did not explore the neighborhood very much but what we do know is that there is an outdoor market about a block away that has a lot of shopping.
Last thing to note is that the company owns and operates 2 Florence Inns, so be sure you are making your reservation at the correct one and you know the matching location (which can be hard to find for unknowing taxis/rickshaws).
