Excellent location situated in Skogarfoss Waterfall an open air museum Sep 16, 2017
On our second night in Iceland we had a hotel. When I'm researching of accommodation in Skogar this was like an affordable place for a hotel price. Before made my booking as always, I first read the reviews and the review and rating of Edda Hotel were mostly positive. So without hesitation I book the place. The hotel is not the cheapest one I found in Skogar, but when I see the location I'm sold.

We didn't drove straight to Skogar, we had done some detour before coming there. Our purpose of coming to Skogar is to see Skogafoss Waterfalls, the massive and powerfull falls where you can walk behind it

I used for all our accommodation in Iceland. Visiting to Iceland in summer month is highly recommended to reserved your room in advance.

We arrived in the afternoon, when were approaching to Edda Hotel it looks like the hotel standing in the middle of nowhere, so far from the world

The mountain back drop, the green front yard. Imagine how peaceful the surroundings are, and far from everything. So the only way to reach the hotel is by car I think

Arrived around 3pm, just one thing when entering I only see staircase, so if you have a heavy suitcase you will have to go through the stairs. It wasn't a big deal for us, we had light luggage. Outside there were six steps and another stairs going upto the hotel reception

The hotel owns a big parking which is necessarily for people who comes with car. When we arrived there wasn't much cars yet, but later in the evening this was fully complete, there was even two tour buses arrived that night

The hotel entrance were so beautiful and spacious. My eyes wide open when I see decorations on the wall (beautiful paintings). The lobby took us to a friendly girl who helped us during check-in.

We had our room on the third floor, so more staircase to go up. It could have been more easy if they put an elevator inside. Well is an easy wide stairs, but for people with heavy suitcase will have to dragged all the way up to thier room and nobody around will helped as I only see one staff, the girl at front desk

The room were spacious and clean. We had a room facing the front yard. We booked a room with shared bathroom - a bit cheaper. But we have our own lavabo inside the room, only for toilet and shower we must go to the bathroom accross the hallway and we're lucky that the bathroom just opposite to our room

If you want to spent a little more of your money, reserve a room with private bathroom, if not, the shared bathroom was not so bad at all, this is clean as well and spacious

Breakfast is included the room price serves in the basement. A buffet style with choices of hot and cold and there you can also try Icelandic food.

Also the hotel restaurant is in the same place down the basement. I think it was necessary to stay for dinner as we were like in the middle of nowhere far from everything although we had a car, but we didn't feel like driving anymore after a long day drive

During check in the girl asked if we'd like to stay for dinner in their restaurant, as this must reserved in advance, thus we did stay in the hotel to dine. The hotel has ala carte - choices from international to local food, it was a great experience to taste some Icelandic dishes. Price is not very expensive, certainly cheaper than room price lol

After arranging everything in the room, we walk to the open air museum which was free to visit inside, but it was almost closed when we get there, so we have a quick stroll inside. The museum is close to Skogafoss. This Skogar Edda hotel is recommended for people with car. I think is not easy to reach by public transport.
