Fabulous location Sep 10, 2012
I was back in Zagreb after a couple of years and my friend and wanted to find a hotel as close to the high town or old town as possible. We narrowed our decision down to Hotel Dubrovnik located at Ljudevita Gaja 1, which is a walking street near the Ban Jelačić Square, which is the central square of the city and in the center of the Zagreb Downtown pedestrian zone.

Sometimes ambitions regarding getting as close to the action as possible bites back as it took us quite some time to find the hotel parking by car. My friend had to ask at the hotel and had I to drive into an area, which we didn’t think that we were allowed to.

The location of the hotel was magnificent as it is located below Zagreb's old city cores Gradec and Kaptol, next to Ban Jelačić Square and therefore directly south of the Dolac Market on the intersection of Ilica from the west, Radićeva Street from the northwest, the small streets Splavnica and Harmica from the north, Bakačeva Street from the northeast, Jurišićeva Street from the east, Praška Street from the southeast and Gajeva Street from the southwest.

The hotel was undergoing a total remake and there were some construction going on, but it didn’t really disturb our stay. The hotel was originally built back in 1929. The reception staffs were really friendly and we received quickly our room on the second floor. There were some shops in the hotel as well and when we stepped our on second floor we were facing a hairdresser saloon. Our room was in the far end of the hall and it turned out to be really nice.

The room had two huge queen size beds that turned out be absolutely fabulous. The room was otherwise really nice with chairs, tables and desks. The room was quite cozy in the colors as the room balanced pretty well. The room was really nice and so was the bathroom.

They stay was really pleasant and the breakfast in the morning was really superb and one of the best that I had in a very long time. The reception was also really flexible about our check-out time; the normal check-out was as late as 1pm.
