Wonderful family-run hostel Sep 01, 2008
This wonderful Hostel has good size rooms with ensuite bathrooms ($10 - $15). Run by Nancy and her family, you will feel right at home!
The Upstairs balcony is huge and has great views of the Volcano. |

Nov 26, 2006 If your on a very tight budget and have the skill to say no to trips, then the Hotel Dorothy is the place to be... first off, the rooms are great, clean and big, very airy which is a bonus, the bathroom is huge and has warm water, all together it was only 3,000colones each, which worked out at 3quid.. that is the cheapest place that i have stayed in so far in costa rica, and for it to be a private room is just amazing value.. Now the only problem is that Noel who runs the hotel, likes very much for you to do a tour, he will try his best to get you to say yes... we stayed 3nights and did 3trips thru him, it wasnt like we was pressure as such, less than that, tho we enjoyed the trips.. so if you think you can say no, then you will find the Hotel Dorothy the cheapest place to stay, if you like to say yes, then well, be sure to bring your debit card.. tho in the end it is worth it, because the view from the hotel is spectacular, every night you can see the lava flow down from the volcano!!! stunning |

This place is extremely cheap, and the rooms are all pretty big and clean. Noel the guy who owns it is really helpful and knows his stuff. He also organises tour which i guarentee you will be doing if you go there!

Well we arrived here in La Fortuna yesterday, even though we was completely conned by some taxi driver who took us to the caribe bus station and not the norte one!!! we decided to stay at hotel Dorothy, which is in actual fact where i stayed last ti…hotel Dorothy, which is in actual fact where i stayed last time i was here.
