Hotel Chappet Annecy
Hotel Chappet Annecy Reviews
Motel by the lake Aug 30, 2009
Just returned from a week at Hotel Chappet as a member of a large party. We stayed in the annexe, not the main hotel, which is a more modern building than the 1830's annexe. Yes, the hotel has a lake frontage, which is one of the only nice things about it. This hotel is on the busy Annecy to Albertville road, with trucks rumbling past 24 hours a day. The roadside bedrooms were not habitable because of this. There is no air-conditioning, and the bedrooms were hot, even with electric fans. The kitchen, while quite large, had no natural light, and was depressing to spend time in. The living room was dark and dingy and desperately in need of refurbishment. True, there was a TV and DVD player in each room, but these had wires hanging everywhere which wasnt attractive. There were some nice fabrics in the rooms, but also some dodgy Tasmanian art. The beds were comfortable, but there was no undersheet which meant if the fitted sheet popped off in the night (which it always did) you woke up sleeping directly on the mattress, hardly very hygienic. Also no duvet covers, just the duvet, which is strange. The waterfront garden is pretty small and really an extension of the car park. Not a relaxing holiday, you couldnt wait to get off site each day because of the traffic noise, oversold on the website, expensive for what it was, a work-in-progress nowhere near completion. Maybe OK for 1 night but I would not recommend this hotel for a longer stay.
