Do not go here! Aug 28, 2009
This hotel was booked as part of a package tour of Rajasthan and Agra, Varanasi.
This is a midrange hotel (3-star) located on the edge of Old Delhi between Ajmer Gate and Delhi Gate. Very close to the Jama Masjid, Chandi Chowk and the Red Fort. We stayed here two nights.
The rooms we stayed in were of an acceptable standard -not exactly luxurious but you get what you pay for (well that is what we think)The room itself was old and not so clean. It looks like the furniture were outdated. The air-conditioning worked (which in August was essential). The bathroom was clean but very old. The bathroom shower sprayed a fine mist, no hot water during our stay. The toilet was loose so you had to be carefull sitting down.
I have to say that the hotel is noisy. If you're at the back you get the call to prayer from 2 mosques. We where at the back and where waken up every morning at 4.00 am and 4.30 am. At the front there is the incessant beeping of Delhi traffic. The room was not well insulated, as all rooms are adjoining with thin wooden internal door, so you can hear everything from other rooms or in the hallway.
The breakfast was pretty bad: oatmeal, hardboiled eggs (one day and one day scramled eggs), chappati, potatoes, artificial juice (not really tasty), tea and coffee. There is no fruit. On the second day, toast was available because we asked. The cleanliness not so good. However, perhaps because it was the start of our trip, this lack of cleanliness did not have an immediate effect on our digestive system.
The best thing about the hotel was the restaurant Chor Bizarre which has won awards for kashmiri food recently. I founded the food good but very expensive compared to the rest of my travelmeals. I had a thali for diner and just a champignon curry for lunch. Unfortunally the serves here was even worse then in the rest of the hotel. You can read it about it in my review of the Chor Bizarre.
The bar Thugs upstairs was pretty grim, there where no windows and therefore smelled stale, but atmosphere was oké. Lots of locals come here to have a drink cos this is probably the only bar in the neighbourhood. The prices here where much beter then the downstairs restaurant Chor Bizarre.
The staff (hotel/bar or restaurant) was arogance and had a careless attitude. The bar is seedy as they come, food overpriced in the restaurant and general hotel over-rated.
Very important also all members of the staff expect tipping although they don't life up requirements.
Wouldn't return here ever, save your money and go elsewhere where they want your business and treat you like a guest rather than an inconvenience.

Hotel Broadway New Delhi Overview
Hotel Broadway was built in 1956 as Delhi's first modern, high rise building by Mr. Tirath Ram Amla, a businessman from Kashmir. His vision was to build an affordable clean family hotel and his main management mantra was to ensure that each guest was treated by each staff member as his 'own personal guest'. This has stood the hotel in great stead for over 50 years.
Located in the heart of New Delhi's business district, 5 minutes from downtown Connaught Place and a leader in its market segment, Hotel Broadway is India's first ISO 9002 Hotel.
Built as the Capital's first high rise modern hotel in 1956, the hotel prides itself in being 'a home away from home' for three generations of loyal guests who return to its service and warmth time and time again.
Sandwiched enviably between Colonial New Delhi and the Old City, the front rooms of the hotel overlook the bustling Asaf Ali Road while the others provide a spectacular view of the Old Delhi skyline. Tourists can spend many a delightful hour, watching kite flights, pigeon fights and the hustle-bustle of life in this part of town. In spite of giving the guests a heady whiff of nostalgia, the modern rooms are centrally air-conditioned and equipped with all amenities. The hotel offers facilities for currency exchange and valet parking as well.
Hotel Broadway also offers its guests, rich cultural experience through Old Delhi walks and authentic Kashmiri cuisine served in traditional “Wazwan” style.
Hotel Broadway is home to some of the country's most celebrated eateries Chor Bizarre - India's Restaurant, which also has a branch in London and Thugs - The Pub not the People
