Hotel Bristol Vienna Reviews
Bristol Hotel in Vienna, Austria Jun 05, 2011
Chose this hotel during my stay in Vienna mainly for location and the need for air conditioning. Many hotels in Vienna didn't have air conditioning and summer in Austria can get really hot.
Location is amazing, around the corner from the ring, a starbucks next to the back of the hotel. Access to the subway station from the door of the hotel. Safe, central yet quite location.
Accross from the Opera House.
We had a room with a glimpse of the opera house, St. Stephen's Cathedral can be seen from the room as well. Rooms have French balcony so it's hard to stay at the balcony too long.
Rooms are really good, bathroom is good. Bed was comfortable. They have a super sound system in the room with collections of classical CD's.
The hotel is historical and really old, room keys are attached to the older, bronze, heavy looking key that was used in the old days.
Hotel has no amenities such as pool, hot tub, etc.. Wireless internet available but you have to pay for it. Strange though since starbucks has free internet and sometimes you can even get the starbucks internet signal from the room.
Hotel is generally very expensive, and breakfast wasn't too special and very expensive as well. For a crepe, 1 coffee and 1 orange juice, the cost was 50 euros.
Wasn't too impressed with the staff, I was planning to change hotels when I went to this one to check, the reception staff tells me in a firm voice that there is no availability. Yet, later that night when I was doing my new booking, the hotel was available. The room was booked, and yet when I arrived, reception still says they have no availability. Even when I was telling the man that we have a reservation. I had to repeat myself saying: I have a room reserved under my name by your headoffice. Retrieve my reservation please!!" Finally another collegue came and pulled our reservation off the computer in 1 second.
In general, the hotel was good, I wouldn't say a real value for the money, but if you are looking for quiteness, and a historical location with the convenience of being close to everything, this is a good place.
