Hotel Am Berg Frankfurt am Main Reviews
Quirky hotel in Frankfurt Aug 07, 2009
The "Hotel am Berg" is located in Sachsenhausen, a southern district of Frankfurt. It is close to public transport, e.g. the subway, and about 20 minutes' walk away from the center of town.
The hotel is quite quaint and quirky, a little bit like a German version of "Fawlty Towers" for those of you who know the British comedy series. It is family-owned and family-run and it shows in the attention od staff and quality of service. They offer breakfast as an option so it is not included in the price. But overall prices are reasonable, mainly because they charge per room, not per person.
The rooms are enormously huge, even their medium-sized rooms are quite big. Should you be lucky enough to stay in room 1A you will have a bathroom that is the size of a living room, the main room itself it more than double that. Every room has a little quirky extra, either a long balcony, a massive bathroom with exercise bike, or a little turret perfect for sunbathing.
Frankfurt has a few exhibitions and during those times all hotels get very busy and fill up quickly. This is especially true for the "Buchmesse" but also other events. During these times prices are usually higher and that's also true for the "Hotel am Berg", so check in advance whether any events are on in town.

Hotel Am Berg Overview
Our Hotel am Berg, family-run since 1950, is often named an “insider tip” or “jewel” in the tourist and city guides. It is housed in a villa built in 1898 and is located in a street with reduced traffic in a residential area near the southern railway station. Our rooms are appointed with shower or bathtub, toilet, hair dryer, cable TV, telephone and partially mini bar. They are all arranged individually and furnished mainly as theme rooms in the style of the fifties, sixties and seventies. Join us on a journey through time and space and let the unique atmosphere of our property truly enchant you. The lovingly prepared, varied breakfast, which we serve traditionally at the table or in good weather in the garden, is especially appreciated by our guests. The southern railway station, with excellent metro, suburban train, tram and bus connections to the town centre, the main railway station and the Frankfurt Airport is only a 3-minute walk away. At a distance of 5 to 15 minutes on foot you will find Alt-Sachsenhausen with its typical Appelwoi restaurants (offering apple wine and local specialties) or the Museum Corner with 9 internationally known museums and a fantastic view of Frankfurt’s Skyline.
