Hotel Alpi Rome Reviews
Nice hotel by Rome Termini Jul 20, 2008
First, maybe my review is tainted slightly because I had been led to believe that the area around the Termini station was to be avoided, so I wasn't expecting much.
This hotel is super close to the Termini, but still on a quiet street (Via Castelfidardo). To get here from Termini you just head to the bus staging area and cross the street. Make a right turn and you will basically dead end in front of hotel Alpi located very helpfully near a supermarket (for cheap water) and a patiscerria (for pastries, obviously). The outside of the hotel and the inside of the hotel are equally charming. However, there are stairs you must climb to get into the hotel and to get to the lift (elevator). We encountered two gentleman at the front desk, an unfortunately I don't remember their names, but both spoke English well, and were very accomodating. The lift was small, even by European standards, it said it accomodated 5, but they were obviously referring to very small children! The room was great. It was elegantly decorated in nice decor and had a small terrace that actually had somewhat of a view. There was a flat screen tv - not that we used it. There is a mini bar with enough room left in it to fit a couple small waters that you get from the supermarket. All this and the bathroom came with a bathtub...for those of you into that sort of thing. Finally, another great thing about this hotel is the rooftop terrace that is lined with plants and tables and you can enjoy a nice nightcap before heading to bed. The breakfast was slightly better than average I would say. It had more than just bread and jam in other words and the woman working was very quick with our caffe americano, when we were in a hurry. Now, for pricing....my sister booked this hotel through their internet website and it was 70 Euro for the night, which felt like a steal! Part of the Italia 2008 travel blog |

The hotel (Hotel Alpi) is adorable, but since it's only 930am we are unable to check in. No worries - we change are shoes and head off to explore Rome until we can check-in. We walked down the street running through an area… Rome...day 1. |
