Hotel Alexandrina Reviews
Quality for Money and a Smile May 17, 2011
Hotel Alexandrina is run by a very nice couple. 'Auntie Ruth' actually grew up on the property in one of the cottages.
The hotel is located just off the main road, from which there is easy access to local transportation and within easy distance to good restaurants and entertainment areas.
The service at the hotel was personalised. We were given complimentary pick up to and from the airport along with flexible check in and check out times.
Because we used a tour guide associated with the hotel, we also got a better rate ( and a free upgrade from a single room to the entire cottage in low peak season). Auntie Ruth also stocked the kitchenette with some complimentary basic items for us- tea, coffee, water, soda and crackers!
The grocery store was just across the street ( well down the slope and then across the street- a 2 minute walk) from which we were able to get pretty much everything we wanted.
There is a small restaurant on the compound - not 5 star quality, it's more like a cafe, but the food was tasty.
The rooms were quite nicely decorated and of medium size. THere was more than enough space in the cottage since we had separate living spaces and kitchenette area, plus an out door porch area attached.
In the main hotel, there are 3 floors, on the ground floor is the restaurant, the other two floors are rooms. Each floor has its own kitchenette and dining area that is shared by the rooms on that floor. Rooms here we of average size as well.
All rooms were air conditioned and had its own bathroom facilities. There was also complimentary wireless service availabe on the compound ( which was pretty good also).
Overall - we enjoyed the pool, the hammocks, the friendly warm atmosphere. There were lots of extras that were complimentary to us that made us feel more like visiting a doting aunt rather than staying at a hotel :) So needless to say, that helped to make our trip very memorable :)
