Hotel 41 Times Square New York

In a city of very expensive hotels, the Hotel 41 is a real little find, good quality for a reasonable (for NYC!) price.
It is a small hotel, only 47 rooms and the first thing to be mentioned of course, is the location, absolutely tops, just around the corner of Times Square. You couldn’t ask for a better location if you’re planning a visit to the Theater District in midtown. A convenient subway stop is also just opposite the entrance. Even being in the hustle and bustle of the city, rooms were quiet (we had a room in the front on the 4th floor and we had no problem with street noise) and the hotel felt quite safe.
The service was refreshingly friendly and good, especially considering that in general, New York is not really known for its polite service! The staff at the Hotel 41 is an exception to this trend however, we were welcomed with smiles and they were always ready to answer our questions and give recommendations.
Rooms are tiny-tiny but then: this is New York, real estate is expensive, and you really can’t expect the sizes of rooms you might be used to elsewhere so I didn’t feel this was a problem. I can imagine it can be however, if you have a lot of luggage (or done too much shopping!) as there’s simply very little place to put your stuff. If you’re the kind of person who spends a lot of time in your room, ask for one of the larger rooms. If you tend to be out and about (this IS NYC after all!) you probably won’t mind the size of the room anyway!
That said, the rooms were comfortable, with good bedding and immaculately clean. I liked the very modern bathrooms and the plentiful Aveeda cosmetics provided. The desk was too small for a normal-sized laptop and the free internet had a couple of hiccups.
A buffet-style breakfast (not really special, but adequate enough) is included in the rate.
Ask if possible for a room in front so you’ll have a view of the street, not of brick walls.
I wouldn’t hesitate staying at the Hotel 41 again when visiting New York and would recommend it to others!
