A excellant place for a beer and a snack, while watching a film on a giant screen. Hot rocks cafe is in the middle of Puerto Veijo, its covered in like a big tent, and is out in the open air, they do a decent menu, more dinner time than a lunch. But there food is very good, in fact its better than what you would think. We had snacks but believe me its big big plates.. Between the two of us, we had Nachos (fresh ones, not out of a packet) with cheese and beans etc, Breaded cheese sticks (so nice we nearly got another order) and Thai chicken hot rock sticks!!!! (you will be amazed, they bring these kebabs out to you on a square rock which helps cooks the chosen meat, it sizzles and hisses and everyone will turn around and oh and ahh at your food) all in all each dish cost us only 1,600c each.. There is also the usual type of food on sale, burgers, pizzas, beef and chicken, sandwhiches...

The drinks are cheap here too, so if you dont fancy the food, as you took my advice and went to Chili Roja, then just pop over for a few drinks and watch a movie.. beer costs 700c or a big jumbo litre bottle is a sinful 1,500c Fabulous!! or a cocktail is only 1,500c or 2,000c which depending on the day could mean 2-4-1. They show new movies on a large screen, when i say new releases i mean (wink wink hint hint copies) but hey we gotta to see "Happy Feet" and "Casino Royal" so all good!!! the films usually start showing at 6pm til late, so get there at a decent time, as Hot rocks does fill up quick, if you wanna good table, get there earlier...

Now i will warn you, there is usually one overworked tico guy working the whole place, so dont expect pronto service, but he is a friendly guy so all is forgiven.. and the food is bloody tasty so its worth the wait...

My friends and I were really homesick for some good Chicago pizza, and this place definitely filled our craving! For three of us I think we paid maybe 2-3 dollars a person for a huge pizza.
