If you like Hot Rods, you'll love this week in Reno May 18, 2011
This is another of the many “special events” that Reno has every year to help draw crowds and tourist dollars. 2011 marks the 25th Anniversary of Hot August Nights, which is a celebration of cars from the fifties and sixties, rock and roll music, and cruising. There are dozens of live concerts, controlled cruises, show and shines, sock hops, and a whole lot more. They also have a swap meet that specializes in car parts, both stock and custom, and a car auction. And, of course, loads of vendors with as many things, collectables, souvenirs, and just plain fun stuff as you can imagine. This has grown to be one of the major crowd generators and boasts nearly a million attendees each year.

So the only drawback is trying to find a room if you decided to go at the last moment.

I like old cars and enjoy that nostalgia, but it sounds like this event perhaps took liberty with its name in using the title of Neil Diamond's 1972 album "Hot August Night".
