I'm sure you've heard it a million times and you might have done it already yourself, but hostels are good even when travelling in a group. The only difference with travelling with a group is that youre gonna have to call ahead and make reservations so you all have a place to sleep. hostels are cheap and you save even more money by cooking in the kitchen that they have instead of eating out all the time. you also meet more people.

if youre gonna be travelling around a lot youll probably want a Eurorail pass. you can buy em online on their website. Also my friends used to schedule their train rides over night so that they could sleep on the train (so they wouldnt have to pay for a hotel or anything).

one last thing, i know that at least in germany if you buy a coke or something in a glass bottle you can return it for some money (seems insignificant but it could add up)

hope that helps,

In Poland you can get cheaper tickets for trains and at the movies when you're with a group. If you're willing to get cultural, go to a museum but first do a little research and make sure to choose a day when there is no entrance fee :)

As I am from Germany I can tell you that there is a pawn on all bottles (glass and plastic) if the beverage is carbonated. Actually this rule is kind of strange, but that´s Germany.
