Hostel in Salta Reviews
Homey Hostel in Salta Jun 08, 2008
I have stayed at Las Rejas twice, and both stays have been really great. The owners also live in a part of the hostel, they are really friendly and helpful. The hostel mostly offers private rooms but has 2 dorm rooms, one with 4 beds and the other 6. dorm rooms run 23 pesos a night, no breakfast included, but you get clean towels, en suite bathroom (with hot water), a locker and lock to store your stuff. They have a cafe where you can get breakfast in the morning, or you can get groceries at the Vea down the street and cook in the fully equipped kitchen. They offer free internet (3 comps with fast connections) and have a TV with cable in the main room.
I have always felt comfortable here and highly recommend it! Also convenient is the Ruma Travel Agency who's office is run right off of the front of the hostel - so far I've done one tour (of cafayete) and it was cheap (90 pesos) and well organized. |

…It was very sad to lose our little home as we´d gotten quite attached to it, and it now meant we had to go back to smelly, icky hostels. But we were about to hit our favourite city in the world (apart from London) so all was not lost. Sydney here we come! We arrived in Sydney and were booked into a hostel called Maze, which is a zillion times nearer to the city… Weeks 35 to 36 - Australia, Chile & Easter Island |

When we finally got into Salta, as soon as we got off the bus, a person from our hostel was already waiting for us with a paid taxi. This hostel is amazing. It almost feels like home, with a closed-in courtyard, complete with a patio set and BBQ. The kitchen is amazing, except I seriously miss microwaves, which are somewhat of a rarity… Stations of the Cross, Israelis, and great hostel |

I've now learned that information provided by the tourist information office about, say, the location of the hostel usually cannot be trusted. Back in Salta, I hadn't learned this lesson yet. So, after doing an unintended tour of the city in the taxi, I finally arrived at Backpackers City hostel. The hostel seemed ok enough. The superfriendly staff made up for the fact… A backpacker to the clouds |

We didn´t do much after that, went to the hostel and just hung out for awhile over a couple of beers. The next day we switched to a much nicer hostel, more like a house than a hostel. We just hung out playing ping pong and watching soccer for most of the afternoon… Salta |

By the time I reached the hostel in Salta I had been travelling for 31 hours straight (all semi cama) and felt strangely rested.
The nationalities of the hostel guests in Salta differ greatly from the guests in Iguazu. There are many Argentinians here, as well as, Swiss, Israelis… The Long Bus Ride |
