Hostel Ville Sarajevo Reviews

Arriving to a hostel you never know what to expect, although most of European hostels provide great facilities, you can find others which exceed them. Hostel Ville most certainly offers a little luxury comparing to its rivals.

The hostel is established in a reasonably sized villa in a quiet neighbourhood only 10 minutes walking distance from the city centre. Fencing around the property provides guests with private garden and secure parking facility.

The hostel spreads out on 4 floors with rooms on ground, 2nd and 3rd floor, and common area on 1st floor. While the reception area is located by the entrance, hostel staff is mostly to be found in the common room – perfect arrangement as they are always at hand when needed.

We rented a twin room here for 2 separate nights – both times we were given the same room on the 3rd floor. The room was simply furnished and not very big, but provided all that is needed for a short stay – a bad to sleep on and a wardrobe to keep your clothes in. The only slight disadvantage here was that our only window opened up to a covered terrace where smoking was permitted, so we could only open it when no one was smoking there.

The room doesn’t come with en-suite bathroom nonetheless, a big bathroom on 1st floor is reserved to be used only by two 3rd floor twin rooms which means this isn’t inconvenience at all as no crowds would be pilling up to use it. There is also another big bathroom on 2nd floor, usually reserved only for use by that floor, however we were allowed to use it due to no one residing on this floor during our stay. In the end, we had 2 bathrooms to use for only the two of us.

1st floor of the property is set out to be a common area, with one of the biggest common rooms I have seen in hostels of a similar size, and very well equipped kitchen where one can prepare their own meals.

The common room is divided in two sections – to the left are dining tables and benches, to the right are comfy sofas with a TV. Plenty room for everyone to enjoy their relaxing time. And if you need some fresh air, just step out onto the balcony.

The entire place was clean and tidy during our stay. The hostel provides bedding and towels, so no need to worry about bringing your own or paying any extras. For a very small fee, you can even wash your clothes here.

The hostel provides free Wi-Fi, which works in most areas – the best connection though is in the common room.

What makes this place really special though, is the staff. From the very first moment we entered the hostel, they did all to make us feel very welcome and safe. We arrived here by a taxi from a bus station. On arrival, it turned out that our taxi driver started giving us some trouble. Luckily, the staff came to the rescue – they quickly spoke to the man and had him on his way within a minute. We were provided with extremely useful information about places to eat and sights to visit, and it never seemed as it was a problem at all if we asked a hundred questions. They also organised for us a mini-bus transfer to Belgrade – they called a few local companies, found us the best deal and arranged the pick up at the hostel. And that is what I call an exceptional service, which doesn’t get forgotten quickly.

I would stay here again without a doubt and hesitation. Fantastic place with amazing staff and reasonably prised.

Price paid per night per twin room – just under €20.
