Loki - Cusco Jul 28, 2016
This was my first time in Loki – Cusco… I have been to almost all of Lokis, but this one was elusive and somehow I never made to it. Actually the whole truth is that it is up the hill, and I really hate to climb the mountain with 20kg backpack on the crazy incline and 3500m high city. What else to say about it, aside of that it is probably the best Loki of all and that it has incredible character. When you get there, there are two receptions that take care of people coming in and people going out, so that there is ease of everything and the crowd is minimized. They have to do that for the sheer volume of people that move around. I have no idea how many rooms they have, but there are three large two floor courtyards that are just incredible.

There is lots of history to this place. It is original Spanish built compound, and Loki hostel covers four courtyards that are connected with tunnels and each one of the courtyards is different. For now only three are available, but they are working on the forth courtyard. The thing is that they preserved all historical elements of the buildings and that they are trying to make it keep its feel and look. There are couple rooms with the original murals from somewhere around 17th century if I am not mistaking.

We got this private bedroom that was just fantastic. It was on the second floor corner that has incredible roof beams that they painted in white and it looks like ribs of the big animal. Room had its own bathroom, that was very modern, but you still don’t throw paper into the toilet because Cusco has incredibly small pipes that were probably NEVER changed. There were two beds in the room that fits three people, one queen and one twin bed. One thing that I have never seen in the hostel are fruit baskets, towels with Loki name on them and even our own coffee pot… That’s crazy… right.

Most activity is around the bar, the terrace and mostly at night. This is party hostel, so do not expect quiet nights and lights out at 11. There are cheap bears on the menu and lots of cocktails to taste. Of course there is Loki “blood bomb” cocktail that is served with the process and it counts towards “countries competition” where the people from country that drink the most of this bombs win the cup of that day hahahhaha. There are many games that you can do, including the billiard.

There is no breakfast included, but they have extensive menu where you can chose your food. On the other hand, Cusco has amazing food all over the town, so you can find much better quality and variety somewhere else.

All dorms have lockers but privates have key to their place. There are also many smaller lockers around reception where you can put your smaller valuables. If you need to leave your bag in the hostel they will do that for you in their huge storage area. They are serious about it, and you get ticket to retrieve your stuff. When you come to hostel you will get the bracelet that doubles for your connection to anything you need to pay and also for entrance to the hostel.

They do have tourist agency that can help you planing your trips or excursions.

Great time for a great price May 05, 2011
I stayed at Loki while backpacking through Peru and I could not think of a better hostel to stay at. This was a few hundred year old monastery that was later converted. The atmosphere could not be beat. There is a bar in the central area that really gets bumping at night, and the drinks are not expensive. They also serve dinners for a very affordable rate, and have internet access with a few computers. I stayed in a 12 person room, and liked it. The beds were big, clean, comfortable, and they left a clean towel for you. If you are going to be in Cusco I would absolutely recommend checking this place out.

Loki Cusco Nov 15, 2009
The Loki Cusco is an ideal party spot hostel when you are in Cusco. I stayed here in Nov 09' with three of my friends. The good parts about the place are the ample amount of private full bathrooms and they keep them pretty clean. The bar is very busy on the weekends and parties can go on all night long. If that is a pro or con that’s for you to decide, but it will be going down. The dinners served looked good and the breakfast was good as well. It is quite large so there are alot of travelers there. The rooms had nice beds but wood floors that move and creak with any movements. They did have a nice tea/coffee setup. The main drawback would be its location at the top of a steep hill, it’s something to consider.

Very flexible and Convenient for your stay Apr 09, 2008
Stayed here for a week in May-June 2007. Have reservations if going in the busy season...very easy to do online. Otherwise, you can usually get a room a few days out. Very accommodating...went on 4 day hike and stored suitcase for us. Good prices from $7-12/day. Good food. Quite a climb up the steps from downtown, but a good practice for the Inca trail. 5 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas. Can be quite busy and noisy at night or during the day if you are not a sound sleeper..mostly in the Dorm rooms. I'd go back.

Feel safe with Gun toting security…

Hostel Loki is located near the center of Cuzco with an incredible view of the city form the bar area. The room comes with a big comfortable bed that has clean sheets for no extra charge. Community bathrooms that are well maintained. Free Internet. Great deals at the bar every night, with good advise from the bartenders for where to go later that night. Overall a great experience that made my stay in Cuzco very pleasant.
