Hostel Amazonia Belem Reviews
No English spoken here! Jun 28, 2009
The owner of this hostel is pretty curt - he doesn't speak any English and seems to take a dislike to anyone who isn't fluent in Portuguese. some of the other staff (like Marcello) are more amenable.
The rooms are smallish, so if you had 6 of you in there, you would be very cramped. Kitchen is basic, but has what you need. Breakfast is decent (cake, eggs, bread with ham/cheese, voghurt, fruit, coffee and fruit juice). Not a massive shared area and it seems to be used by the owners a lot (e.g. they hog the TV). No hot showers, although its pretty hot here so that doesn't matter so much.
The cost (as at 27/06/09) was R$32/R$25, without/with HI card.
You have limited choices in Belem, so this is an ok place to stay.
