Hostel 94 is one of the hostel in the big village on the small island that is called Malta. Located in the trendy neighborhood of Sliema where most of the hotels and tourist are, this hostel has excellent bus connection and lots of restaurants to feed the hungry. Direct bus line from the airport (X2) comes to the bus stop some 50 meters from hostel so transportation is fantastic. Actually you can catch buses to almost everywhere and the biggest thing is to find the bus with the most direct route.

Hostel is in the building that bares number 94… there is your name… It is older but retrofitted building three floors high. If you are lazy or carrying heavy backpack, there is an elevator to help you get to your room. Rooftop is fantastic and it has enough chairs and space for good party. View from that terrace is over the rows and rows of houses, English style. On that last floor is the room where boys and girls that are helping in hostel stay. There is no reception or someone that checks stuff. In the morning the owner shows up and deals with the things that happened previous day. It is very interesting concept for a hostel.

Bottom floor has a kitchen where they “serve breakfast” or whatever that is. Instant coffee and some tea with a bit bread and jam is not my idea of breakfast included. Very comfy couches on that floor, and good internet connection.

By the way, you get in with a code or a key that is provided at check in. All room doors have their own key so it is fairly secure. My room was on the first floor. Very specious. With a small wanna be balcony and great bathroom and shower. Great way to set the bunk beds and so much space that I got confused hehehhe. I had a single bed, excellent but a bit thin and short. Nights were a bit colder but blanket was provided and sufficient (for me, but some people froze)… Surprisingly enough there were some mosquitos in the hostel. I gladly kill them, but it was strange that they are around during the winter time.

In general everything was pretty comfortable, great place to chill for a bit. Owner has a strange vibe of rudeness, but I got to know few more people from Malta and I figure it out that they are strangely rude all over the island… That’s a bit surprising for vacation/tourist island that has good percentage of their moneys coming from tourism. Transportation is really fantastic and you don’t need taxi or anything like that. Streets are super small and navigating this buses takes some serious skills. Next time I get around, I’ll get to some other hostel, maybe a bit closer to Valleta. I love to dive and I found a great dive center close to the hostel. Water that surrounds the island is very clear considering that Malta is one of the premier places for shipping boats and boat maintenance…
