Hostalet Barcelona Reviews
Simple, Quiet, Clean and Comfortable Apr 07, 2011
I stayed at the Hostalet Barcelona for four nights during my trip to Barcelona and had a good stay.
This property is located in a multi-story unit in the Eixampe neighborhood with the trendy Gracia neighborhood only two streets away. It is accessible through the 'Hospital Clinic' station stop the L5 (Blue) TMB Metro station and two stops from Barcelona Sants station.
I do not have pictures of the room due to limitations of my camera (narrow lens), but I feel that the pictures on the property’s website accurately depict the décor of the rooms.
Since I divided my trip to Barcelona in two portions (with a side trip to Girona in the middle) I had to check in twice. The staff spoke English to a good extent and one (Alex) was extremely helpful in helping me orient myself with the city. Also despite the fact I had a morning arrival, I was given a room upon arrival. After accepting the room and checking in, payment was due upfront.
There are only ten rooms, some having only one twin bed and others have rooms with larger beds. All rooms are private. Most rooms have private washrooms, while some will require guests to utilize a shared washroom.
Both rooms I stayed in were clean, had tiled floors, had beds with linens already made and remade throughout the stay. The washrooms were also clean and had towels. However, soap and shampoo were not provided but could be bought at a small store across the street.
All rooms have windows, however some will open up into the interior of the building and some will open up to the outside balcony. Sometimes the room did get a little “stuffy” due to poor circulation of air. You can access the balcony freely throughout your stay through a door near the reception area.
At night the room and floor were extremely quiet.
Check out consisted of leaving the keys on the desk of the reception. On that note, the reception desk was not always staffed.
There was free wifi and an excellent map of Barcelona near the entrance to help assist you in locating addresses in Barcelona.
Outside of the property, there are numerous cafes and small restaurants to visit for quick meals, coffee, a beer or a Coca Cola.
Overall, for 45 € the cost was a good value for the location, cleanliness, quiet and service. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who desires a simple, quiet and clean location to spend the night.
