Hostal Turisol Barcelona Reviews
Affordable Hostel recommended by a local in Metro May 05, 2010
Once we reached Barcelona by train, the station was a bit far from the city center and due to late hours the tourist desks and tourist information centers were closed. After booking our ticket for the next day we asked the cashier at ticket counter which is a good place to stay as we had done no homework before landing in Barcelona. He immediately replied " Since your next train is from the train center located in city center so its better to stay there and to find some good hotel go to La rambla or the harbor area". he further instructed us to use metro while going to La Rambla . We got a metro Map along and went to the underground station . On the second stop a Pakistani came on board and sat infront of us.
After some time he asked us about our nationality and we told him and slowly and gradually we explained our purpose of visit and present task to search a hostel. He was taking groceries to his home after pack up from his office and lucky he lived near La rambla. Luckily, he said i know a person who runs a hostel in la rambla and if you have not booked we can check there. Some how or the other we trusted him and agreed to join him.
After reaching La rambla after 5 mins of walk we got to the door of the building where hostel was located. Though it was weird sort of a place in the first look and the hostel was on third or fourth floor and no lift was there. But the hostel owner was again a Pakistani and a fine gentlemen. He took us to our room after the documentation. The room was not bad, but the price for which we were given it was a good room. They also had a WiF access in rooms and the owner was kind enough to give us a welcome TEA. Though it is not a normal practice for all the guests as my father asked him if he could bring it and he didn't charge for that.
Beds were good but i was not happy with the washrooms as it was quite compact and was not that clean. it had a Balcony and a wash basin along with the towels. Since we were introduced by a friend of the owner so were further given 10 euro concession. the staff was quite cooperative and they guided us in highlighting the main attractions of the city and also provided us a map.
Overall it is a recommended place to stay for a budget traveler
