Nice place on the edge of the old town Jun 16, 2010
I stayed in this hostel for two nights and I liked my stay here. The room I got (I had booked a single room but I got a double) was pretty spacious. The furniture was simple and the decoration spartan, but the bed slept well and everything was clean and quiet. The staff was also very friendly.
For the location, I think it was nice. A short walk from the stations and the new town, good for grocery shopping and things like that. Also a short walk from the old town, but a steep climb though. The street where the hostal is at is next to the Huecar river and quiet at night, with hardly any traffic. I felt very safe in the area as well.
There is a nice living room that guests can use, with a sofa, some books, free internet access, etc. I payed 25 EUR/night as it was low season, which is more than I normally spend but not too much for the private room and bathroom I got. Especially since I was upgraded to the double room, which normally costs more for single use. There is no breakfast served in the hostel, but that is not an issue as there are plenty of shops to cater from or bars to have some nice food.
I will definitely recommend this place. I wont claim that it's the best hostel in Cuenca, but it's value for money, clean, safe and close to everything. So just what I was looking for. I had a nice stay here!
