Friendly, Fun and Supporting a great cause May 31, 2011
Hostal Magico is a wonderful place to stay and has everything a traveller would hope to get out of a hostel.

The hostel is secure and the staff are very attentive and friendly - there is 24hr staffing. There is 24hr hot water and the rooms have little gas stoves to keep you warm at night (you can request more gas as you need it) and the blankets are thick! The hostel is located very near to the market and you have all the cooking facilities you could want to prepare your own food. There is also a living room with a TV and lots of DVD's for anyone to use at any time.

The hostel is also strongly connected with the social project "Aldea Yanapy" which the hostal helps to support along with a restaurant of the same name. For the discerning traveller who is looking to give back in any way during their trip, this is the perfect place to do so. You can help with marketing the restaurant or working in the school. The main attribute you must have as a volunteer is the ability to show love and caring for the children that are supported through the program. Spanish is not esential thought it does help.

One final piece of advise would be to make sure you return to the hostel in a taxi at night. In most areas of Cusco it is advisable not to walk around too much at night. Be wary of walking on your own and stay alert when cars drive past you, especially if they are going slowly.
