Affordable, near the port/sea, walking Jul 15, 2011
It's an affordable place to stay and the best thing is that you are just within a 15 walk to some important locations: the port, Montjuic area (park, sports, pool), Espanya plaza and last, but not the least, to Las Ramblas, the city most vibrant place!

The surrounding areas are safe and never had worries at night, but the street at night gets real quiet and its isolated, better keep an eye open. There are several discount, supermarket stores and a few snack-bars nearby. If you use a car, there are 2 parking places around, use them, because it's very hard to find an empty spot on the streets.

The service at the hostal is good, the place is clean, cozy, with lots of young people and a nice room at the entrance, to relax a while. The air conditioning will give you a lot of comfort, if you go in the summer and have to deal with the hot humid weather of Barcelona.

All in all, a very good value for the money. Very nice and simple place to stay at.

We stayed at the Plaza Hostal just a few minutes walk from La Ramblas and the Catalunya metro stop. The staff was very friendly and spoke good english. The furniture in the room was old but very well kept. The room was clean and wasn't too small. We had enough space to function. Our room had a private toilet and shower as well as a balcony. It cost us around 25€ per person/per night. There was free access to a computer with Internet in the common area. The location is great. There is plenty of places to eat and a big shopping center nearby where you can pick up some snacks or drinks. We bought bakery goods and water for our breakfast in order to save money. If we stood on our balcony and looked the the left, we could see Catalunya Square and La Ramblas (where they meet). I would definitely stay here again!
