Hospedaje Esfinge Granada Reviews
Cheap place to sleep, close to the city centre Apr 09, 2009
This Hospedaje Esfinge is owned by a very friendly older couple, named Celia and Carlos. When we needed their help, which was very rare, they helped us very good with our questions. And on arrival Celia showed us a map of the city of Granada and explained us exactly where the interesting places for us are located, like restaurants and recognisable places like the main square "Plaza Colón". The building is about 100 years old, build somewhere in the beginning of the 20th century. So very nice to sleep at and actually nice to see it from the outside too. It's very close to the city centre of Granada, about 5 minutes walking from the "Plaza Central". Across the street is an indoor market. When you enter the hospedaje from outside you get on a stairs that lead to kind a balcony. It's nice, because from that balcony you had a great view on the Easter processors that were constantly passing by.
The rooms are very very basic. This means the beds we were sleeping in were or very old too, or very cheap and thus bad quality. The rooms looked old, because they looked very used through all the ages. We had a room with bathroom. But it was just the same room as where we slept with a little wall between the sleeping part and bathroom that didn't even reached the ceiling. There was also no door in between, but a curtain that you could open and close. There were two fans standing in the room for some fresh air, which was very necessary because of the heath! The shower did had very hot water if you wanted so, but it was way better to take a cold refreshing shower.
The hostal has a courtyard with a lot of trees and hammucks where you can hang arround and get in contact with other travelers. The walls are all bright colour painted, which gives it all a really nice atmosphere. A great place to hang in the beginning of the evening.
I can definitely recommend this hospedaje to all my fellow travel buddies!
