This hostel is very nice and has an optimal location. There are private rooms and a dorm. Kayaks, intertubes, and internet are free for overnight guests. On the computers, you can't upload any pictures or for that matter, even access the CPU. We saw this place advertised at a hostel (La Casita) in Granada for $12. per night dorm/ $24. private room but when we arrived and were getting the grand tour, Ann slipped in that there was a mandatory $4. buffet breakfast. Having just finished my breakfast, I should also say that if you want juice it will be 25 cordoba extra. Mandatory buffet breakfast without juice included. Tea and coffee, however, are free all day long. So, in fact, the hostel is $16. per night for dorm and $30. for private room. And bring a towel because there is a charge for that too. Lunch and dinner are served on site for $4. and $8. respectively. For $1. I walked a couple of minutes up the road and had a huge plate of pinto gallo from pulperia elisabeth. She also has full meals and snacks and I don't think I saw anything on the menu over 80 cordobas or $4. Get up at 5 and watch the sunrise from your intertube in the middle of the laguna...unreal.

This is an awesome place to stay! I stayed there for 2 nights and it was a great experience! You wake up with the best sunrise in your face while sleeping in an open air dorm (old boat house made into a dorm). But there are also private rooms available. The lake is very relaxing, the views are great (check out my review on Laguna de Apoyo). You can take a swim whenever you want (and trust me, you want to!).

The hospedaje has terrific food! Breakfast, lunch, AND dinner is all great! You can stay outside at the lakeside all night with self service drinks, just write down your name and pay when when you check out.

The rooms and beds are very very comfortable and very clean. Just watch out for 'bugs' like scorpions and snakes... hehe!

Get up early to watch the sunrise and hear and maybe even find the howler monkeys!

The place was run by a great American lady. In August 2007 it was for sale though, so I'm afraid she won't be there anymore. But maybe this is an opportunity for the one who reads this: BUY IT! :-)

There's a chicken bus service to and from Masaya bus station. For directions from and to Managua and Granada check the website.
