A terrific way to enjoy nature Sep 04, 2010
When we went on a roundtrip to Brazil, we visited a nice little pousada near Ouro Preto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which has some very beautiful colonial gold mining towns. Unlike most of Brazil, Ouro Preto, or Minas Gerais, the province, is very dry and sandy and the mountains are very attractive for hikers and horseback riders. Which is exactly what we did! I grew up as a kid surrounded with horses and have had horseback riding lessons and participated to competitions for years. I had never, however, done horseback riding Western – style. And what an experience! I absolutely loved it and this was one of the most memorable excursions we took while in Brazil. We were in a group, and the dogs followed us along the way chasing young cows away. The horses were very well trained, and the guides were very friendly and experienced, so even beginners can take a horseback riding tour. This is a terrific way to enjoy the beautiful nature of Minas Gerais!
