Hopkins Vacation Guide

Hopkins Village is a wonderful Garifuna settlement on the beach.
We recieved electricity and mains water just 15 years ago. Now a multinational community with a population of around 1,500 we are trying to develop into a modern village without loosing our unique kinsmanship for all who live and pass through here.
Quite a laid back attitude and enjoy the simple things in life.
Hopkins is a great place to relax and unwind.
You may feel that we are poor but our lifestyle and climate do not require much monetary gain and most do not have mortgages or loans to pay. It is a happy life that you will notice by the twinkle and love in everyones eye here.
We have several restraunts and hotels even full blown resorts with the warm enticing caribean sea lapping our palm fringed beaches and tropical jungle just a couple of miles away.

So, how to sum up Hopkins? Dull just about covers it. Anyway we got off the bus and saw the signs for Kismet Inn at the crossroads. '10 minutes this way' it told us. Lie. It took ages in the baking heat!! Oh well, on arrival we were greeted by Elvis, the Garifuna lover of Trisha, the owner. …

Leaving San Ignacio, we hopped on a bus to Belmopan, then changed busses and headed toward Dangriga along the very beautiful hummingbird highway, getting off at Blue Hole National Park. We got off at the first entrance you come to as you're coming from the west, which is the entrance to St. Herman'…
