it was a great road trip throughout scandinavia. at the end of the road was nordkapp, the northernmost tip of europe! a beautiful rock over the ocean looking towards north pole! i was lucky to see the midnight sun! honningsvag was a great little town! the hike to spiritual kirkeporten was uplifting!

August 9So I woke up quite early in Lakselv and get breakfast, prepared and eventually said goodbye to Anne and the children before getting on the road... 3 weeks in Northern Norway - Tromsø and North Cape.. And then - an impulse decision: Svalbard - 78° N! After two weeks of rain, rain, rain we needed to experience something different. I love the arctic climate and nature - so why not spend a few days on Svalbard?! It was a great experience!!

I never would have thought a cruise along the western coast of Norway would have been worthwile, but after my grandmother took my sister and I, I realized it was spectacular. The landscape had a harsh, rugged beauty and the near 24-hour sunlight within the arctic circle was really an experience. Bergen was the largest city in Norway (but has only 250,000 inhabitants). The hiking was just phenomenal - especially when we climbed on a glacier.

We were at 13:00 pm at Honningsvåg. We enjoyed our time here at the harbour. We have talked to few people from England, they arrived with a cruiseship. They gave us some traveltrips for our journey.
