Hong Kong Restaurant San Diego Reviews
Good Chinese Food May 15, 2011
This Chinese restaurant is quite the gem. Located in Hillcrest, which is a popular neighborhood in San Diego, California. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transit. Hong Kong is my favorite Chinese restaurant in San Diego.
Some of the dishes I have tried are the Beef with Broccoli, Egg Foo Young, Kung Pao Chicken, Shrimp Chow Mein and I have a tumultuous relationship with their Boneless Crispy Chicken. You cannot go wrong with any of the mentioned choices, but I will warn you that that the Crispy Chicken is sometimes more bread than chicken, which annoys the heck out of me.
The pricing for their food is okay. One order of the mentioned dishes can accommodate two people. Prices range from 9.50 to 12 dollars per dish. You do not have to wait to be seated, just find an empty table.
The outside of the restaurant leaves much to be desired. In fact, the façade can be mistaken for a dry cleaning business or for that matter something that went out of business. The inside is clean. The bathroom is a shoebox –small, but has the proper equipment. The waitresses are efficient to say the least.
Besides the food, Hong Kong’s hours of operation are a wonderful highlight. They are open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays! And they are probably opened on Christmas.
Overall, Hong Kong is reasonably priced, good hours and located in a popular area.
