Homestead Winery Grapevine Reviews
Homestyle Wine Dec 06, 2008
The original wine facility of Homestead winery is at the family farm in Ivanhoe, Texas which I found out that Tiger Woods could drive a shot to Oklahoma from there. They also have two other north Texas tasting rooms which gives visitors an opportunity to sample the wines and true Texas hospitality.
The place was a bit quiet today which gave me opportunity to talk to the owner about some of their wines. That had quite few varieties including a Shiraz, a Pinot Noir a Cabernet Sauvignon and quite a few whites. They had a lemon wine which seem pretty interesting to me. It was just fermented lemonade, I would guess. It won a gold medal at the Grapefest this past year, so I guess it must be pretty good.
The tasting room is inside a 1890s Texas Victorian folk-style home just off historic Main Street. It has this fancy porch details, old hard wood floors and fireplace mantel along with a metal wine vine sculpture in the front yard. This place was a relaxed, charming setting to sample and purchase their wines along with other wine related items and accessories.
