Home Sweet Home Manchester Reviews
Hone Sweet Home Nov 19, 2011
Home Sweet Home is a café and coffee shop in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. It is a lovely place to get a cup of tea and a cake, and has an alcohol license for later in the day. It also does fantastic milkshakes. The baked cakes and things are wonderful, and often still warm from the oven when you get them, but this does mean that the thing on the menu isn’t always available.
The café is decorated with games, kitsch little clocks and things, and vintage items. There is a ceramic moose on the wall with a wooly hat. It is decorated much like a cross between someone’s nan’s house and a sewing goods shop, but in a good way. It is light and airy, and usually pretty spacious, although it gets very busy on Saturdays.
The staff are lovely – they work extremely hard to arrange chairs so everyone can have a seat, and I saw one of them chase a customer down the road when he forgot his wallet. Prices are very reasonable – at around the £5 mark for tea and cake, they are equivalent to Starbucks, but far, far nicer. I go there a lot, and the standards are consistently very high.
