Jungle Paradise Along the River Kwai Apr 19, 2008

Wow, how lucky we were that our Thai friend ("Poj") suggested this place!

"Home Phu Toey" - a rugged, yet stunningly beautiful resort oasis, is set high on a cliff overlooking the murky and mysterious River Kwae Noi, meandering some 100 feet below. Surrounded by dense jungle foliage, each night we sat on our mountain perch and drank cool beer as we watched the bats swarm around the lights of our bungalow. The frogs and locusts lulled us to sleep, and roosters woke us at dawn each morning.

But before you worry too much about us "roughing it" and being unsafe, we should point out that this is a LUXURIOUS retreat in the middle of the jungle. Our teak cabin also had air conditioning, hot water - and satellite TV! And the ever-attentive staff made sure that we were always well-fed - with 4 full meals each day!

There are ponds with pedal boats, walking trails, fountains, and at least two large swimming pools. So much to do, especially when you feel like doing nothing at all!

Here's the kicker - it's all-inclusive. Meaning that the meals are all included, and there is NO TIPPING allowed.

Their website is quirky, so here is their e-mail: info@homephutoey.com

Actually, I've only stayed in one that I thought was better. But on the other hand, I don't stay in hotels much so I am little experienced to fanciness. Still, this place ...
