Holmenkollen is the world most famous Skijumping hill and when oslo hosted the 1952 winter olympics Holmenkollen was the olympic hill. In the bottom there is a ski-museum with everything you want to know about different kind of skis and pictures of the most famous norwegians athletes. Holmenkollen has also been expanded several times since it was built and there are models that will show you how the hill have changed.
Jump Tower. This is absolutely great. You can go up in the Jump Tower and look down at the hill. Here you will get respect for what these skijumpers are doing. Ski-Simulator. You can experience a simulated experience of jumping in Holmenkollen and skiing down kitzbuel downhill , one of the toughest hills in the world. It is 10years since i did this the last time and its as fun now as when i did it for the first time. Admission is 70kr for Adult and 60for Student. Holmenkollen is famous ski jump hill in Oslo.
To us it was must-to-see when we were in Oslo. If you want to just see jump-tower it doesn't pay anything, but there is also some other things that you can try (ski jump simulator, etc.) and they pay, but not much. There is also Ski museum, but I can't say anything about it 'cause I didn't visit there. Many tourists visit Holmenkollen and it shows by that there couple souvenier shops. Probably it looks better in winter, but when I visited there it was summer and I think it is really good time visit there too. Part of the Summer Trip 2008 travel blog |

Holmen Kollen is the ski jump in Oslo. You can't really appreciate how large a ski jump is until you're standing on/underneath/next to one. It gave me the shivers - I wouldn't slide down the thing on my ass (which someone actually tried to do), let alone on skis trying to launch myself into the air. Ski jumpers are certifiable.

Mom and Dad arrived in Oslo, so we're back out exploring again. Mostly a trip to Holmen Kollen to show them how cool it is and try to keep them awake so they wouldn't be in bed at 3 PM local time.
